QR Inspector

QR code size calculator

Start with a QR size people can scan comfortably.

Enter the farthest likely scanning distance. The estimate uses a conservative 10:1 distance-to-code ratio and a 20 mm minimum, then converts it to print pixels.

This is a practical starting estimate—not a guarantee. Always test the final artwork on the intended material and devices.

Suggested minimum side length 100 mm / 3.94 in About 1181 × 1181 pixels at 300 DPI

Three details that matter as much as size

Keep the quiet zone

Leave clear space around every side of the code. Do not let text, borders, or artwork crowd it.

Protect contrast

Use a dark code on a light background. QR Inspector rejects color combinations that are too weak for dependable scanning.

Test the final piece

Gloss, curvature, lighting, camera angle, and print quality all affect scanning. Test at and beyond the expected distance.

Need a scalable print file?

QR Inspector downloads SVG for vector workflows and high-resolution PNG for common design tools. Both include a standard four-module quiet zone.
